Fall is here! The days are cooling down, the leaves are changing color, and my favorite recipe time of the year is upon us. Summer may have some of the best produce but Fall has the best baking days. Cozy and ideal for staying in your warm kitchen, but not so cold you want to spend the day under a blanket.
My daily walks give me the best vantage point to take in the new season and have been necessary for calming my overactive brain. I keep expecting to have passed the craziest part of the cookbook process, but with each new step, a new array of challenges and opportunities arises. This whole experience has prompted so much growth for myself—it’s the hardest I’ve ever worked, it’s pushed me out of my comfort zone, and brought me possibilities I never could have imagined. And part of the hard work is working to enjoy every moment!
The brightest parts so far have been the joy of connecting with my online Turkuaz Kitchen family—which leads me to the these incredibly exciting announcements! If you have preordered my cookbook, you have access to a bonus booklet of recipes! And I’m going on a cookbook tour! Scroll down for more details!!
I wanted to start the season with some of my favorite Fall recipes. Tiramisu makes it to my top ten all-time favorite desserts—rich, creamy, a perfect balance of sweetness with the slight bitterness of coffee—and I love to do seasonal variations. This Pumpkin Tiramisu uses a couple of different tricks: first, it utilizes a sponge cake recipe in place of the classic ladyfingers, lending to a more trifle-like texture (though don’t worry, ladyfingers can definitely be used as well); second, the addition of pumpkin adds that earthy sweetness and moisture that makes pumpkin your best baking friend. Think almost pumpkin spice latte but with a delightful balance and in dessert form. Bring this to your next get together in place of a pumpkin pie. Trust me, you’re sure to impress!
For a celebration of warm savory flavors, Shepherd’s Pie will never lead you astray. It’s easily adjustable to your favorite vegetables (though is also a great way to sneak in peas for even the pickiest eaters) and can utilize the ends of many different cheeses in your fridge. Sautéed beef, caramelized vegetables, all topped with mashed potatoes and cheese—what could be better?
Have you preordered my cookbook?! Are you planning to before release date?!? As a thank you for being the best followers ever, I have released a booklet of 7 all new recipes (and 1 already released one) just for you. It is a companion booklet to the cookbook, designed in the same style, complete with my photographs, and is full of recipes that were exclusively created for the cookbook but ultimately had to be cut for the sake of space. In it you’ll find Spinach Flour Tortillas, Breakfast Burritos with Beef “Chorizo,” English Muffins, Eggs Benedict, Salmon Burgers, Poolish Dough Bread Bowls, French Onion Soup (Betul’s Way), and Galette des Rois. You’re gonna love it.
