Summer is in full swing in the Turkuaz Kitchen!
After my son’s school year finished, we had only a few weeks before our big summer trip was set to begin. This meant weeks full of work on my part, getting ahead with content with the hope to be able to fully enjoy family time come vacation. Navigating this busy time between my son’s summer camps and playdates, I’ve made a few recipes that I’m thrilled to share with you in the upcoming weeks! These dishes will be perfect for these hot summer days, with the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables hitting grocery stores and farmers markets—so be sure to keep an eye out on social media for delicious new items!
And to start off strong, last week I shared my new Double Chocolate Cheesecake with Fresh Cherry Sauce. It combines one of my favorite flavor pairings, the dreamy tastes of chocolate and cherry, with a series of divine elements that make for the ultimate rich, decadent dessert. Homemade Chocolate Sandwich Cookies compose the base beneath a silky chocolate cheesecake, topped with chocolate ganache, and then the literal cherry on top, the fresh black cherry sauce!
As promised, here is the content many of you have been waiting for—my homemade chocolate sandwich cookie recipe! The cookies were a huge hit with my son and his friends, receiving rave reviews in their side-by-side taste test with the store-bought classic. The cookies are delicious all on their own, of course, but also worked perfectly as a crust for the Double Chocolate Cheesecake recipe. You’ll find these cookies crisp, chocolatey, and the perfect level of salty and sweet. Feel free to use them as a pie crust base, crushed up in ice cream, or eat after being dipped in milk!
We finally hit the end of the cookbook editing process and everything is moving along splendidly, speeding towards the November release date. The most recent update is an exciting one! We have partnered with Malaprop’s Bookstore, an independent bookstore in Asheville, North Carolina, to host and ship signed copies of the book. I will be heading down there in the coming months, once the first prints are completed, to personally hand sign as many copies as I am able. This beautiful shop will then hand pack and ship them out for the release date, and they offer both national and international shipping options.
